Eating better...

I love to eat and I love to run. O.k., maybe I should say it more like this...because I love to eat, I have to run. It's true. Eating is so much more fun than hopping on a treadmill and watching that slowly ticking calorie counter count down the calories you just put on it one second of eating a cookie.

My husband and I have finally bought us a really nice treadmill and are trying now to "eat better". I've decided that that's just code for..."I think I'm fat and I've got to now eat some really not so fun stuff like...whole wheat germ...and fat free fig newtons...and some cardboard tasting thing called muesli."

I'm realizing that the older I get, the harder it is to lose weight. It's like the fat just finds a part of me and yells..."hold on boys, she can't get rid of us that easy!" Or if I do happen to lose a little weight it's always in some place like my earlobes or my little toe, not in the places I would love to lose.

Of course, my husband and I realize that we need to get in better shape to be around for our kids...so this is a good thing, I guess. Plus, summer is coming and it's not like you can hide too much longer behind a big ol' monster coat. So for now, I'll just continue to run on my treadmill, watch that mean ol' calorie counter, "eat better", and dream of the chocolate chip cookies I'm going to make later for the kids.

But honestly..."eating better" is not much fun.
